Product features *Decorative Horse’s Head* (c. 1938) by Albert Ryder, an American artist who worked for the Index of American Design. Rendered in watercolour and graphite, the study records an ornamental Rhode Island carving with the precision of an archival drawing while preserving its exuberant sculptural character. The horse’s alert eye, open mouth, curling forelock, and dramatically flowing mane transform a functional piece of folk decoration into an image of movement and untamed energy. Floral carving rises around the neck, creating a striking contrast between the animal’s powerful expression and the elaborate craftsmanship surrounding it. Housed in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., presented in a refined design as part of the Art Movements Collection.
