Grimaud, the historic Parisian cardmaker associated with finely printed decks and the evolution of modern French card design. The image presents the King of Spades in a mirrored court-card composition, with royal robes, sceptres, suit symbols, and restrained red, blue, gold, and black detailing giving the work its formal symmetry and decorative charm. Its compact structure and ornamental clarity reflect the visual language of late nineteenth-century French card printing, where function, heraldry, and graphic design came together in a highly recognizable form.
