The illustration presents Yggdrasill, the great world tree of Norse cosmology, as a layered cosmic structure connecting realms, waters, mountains, and the heavens within a single symbolic diagram. Its circular framing, delicate colouring, and diagrammatic order give the work the quality of an old mythological chart, turning sacred geography into a refined visual system. Sourced from the Boston Public Library / Digital Commonwealth collection, presented in a refined design as part of the Art Movements Collection.
