In this work, Mondrian reduced forms to pure geometry and color, stripping away representation to explore harmony through opposites. It was purchased in 1921 by Jo Steijling, funding Mondrian’s move to a larger Parisian studio. The painting is oil on canvas, sized 59.5 × 59.5 cm, and housed at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, The Hague. Part of the Art Movement Collection.
